At the developer conference in Dongguan, China for discussing the companies future, Richard Yu CEO of new consumer business group announce the microkernel-based operating system called Harmony OS.
The HongMeng OS was renamed to Harmony OS for the international market.
The companies development is accelerating because of the recent trade war between US and China.
The new OS has microkernel design so it is completely different from android and ios. The main key thing about the software is it is opensource.
The software has cross-platform capabilities and secure architecture. The OS is capable of delivering a seamless experience across multiple devices. They yet to introduce a working version of the OS.
The first product to run the software is on there new smart TV, Honor vision. The honor vision is a 55inch 4K HDR TV with almost no bezel. The TV has a pop camera like other Chinese smartphones.
Huawei has been developing the software for two years. Apps build for Harmony OS can run on different devices delivering a seamless collaborative experience.
Huawei claims that OS reduces the response latency by 25.7 percent. The software has enhanced security. The OS will not allow root access.
The OS can automatically adapt to different screen layout. It supports both drag and drops control.
Over the next three years, the software will be developed for smart devices like wearable devices, smart tv, VR smart glasses, and car systems.
This feature will allow developers to build more efficient apps that can run on multiple devices.
Huawei P30 Pro has been confirmed that it will be running on Googles new Android Q. It not sure if Harmony OS will come to smartphones.
The time will tell if it comes to smartphones or not. After testing on different devices and gaining peoples trust Huawei may bring the OS to smartphones.
